Lend a Paw - Volunteer at WGES!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering - we're so glad you're here!

Below are a few of the 2026 - 2027 volunteer opportunities at Walnut Grove Elementary.

Please be sure to fill out our Volunteer Interest Form to be added to our volunteer list and receive information regarding volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Our spring events are not yet set, so emails will be going out later in the year with those opportunities. If you would like to be on our general volunteer list to be contacted about upcoming opportunities, please choose "General".

Volunteering opportunities are open to the parents, caregivers, and families (grandparents, older siblings, aunts & uncles!) of our WGES students. Not only is volunteering a great way to help grow our Grizzlies, it is also a chance to build a strong and supportive WGES community of parents, families, teachers, and staff.

As a volunteer, you can help as much or as little as your schedule allows. We have many volunteer opportunities that can be fulfilled at flexible times or from home. By signing up, you are not committing to any events, only that you are interested in receiving information about signing up for them in the future.

Become a Tier III Volunteer

Some volunteer opportunities, like chaperoning field trips and assisting inside of the classroom, require Tier III Volunteer approval through Williamson County Schools. This allows you to work one-on-one with our students without direct teacher supervision and needs to be completed every five years.

The Tier III approval process includes a criminal background fingerprint check, a volunteer application, and a confidentiality agreement. The background check process may take several weeks, especially early in the school year, so please complete the requirement as soon as possible (especially if you would like to accompany your child(ren) on our first field trips of the year).
